A couple with a passion for organic, biodynamic and quirky wines recently opened a neighborhood store on Glenwood in Minneapolis. Gretchen and Mark were looking for a less traditional branding approach.—an identity that was not applied in a formulaic way, but rather indicative of the unexpected offerings of the store. Being new, we decided it would also help to appear to have a little built-in history, as if an old logo still hung around, and another came later. What we came up with was a pair of marks: a circular logo designed for the neon sign, coasters and blog; and a blade sign that would serve as the store identifier from the street and sidewalk, and appear on business cards.
This umbrella program was developed as a way to showcase the natural-focused brands for the conscious consumer at Target. It brought together everything from plant-based cleaners and biodegradable diapers, to non-GMO snack bars and toxin-free beauty products.
The black and white hand drawn art held in circles created a neutral platform for the many brands while making it distinctly Target. A custom font was created to streamline the multi-team execution of ads, signage and direct mail.
Rustica approached us with a request for a branded packaging structure that could ship a dozen cookies. The new package needed to keep freshly-baked cookies intact, while displaying the brand in a more modern way than they had in the past. The end design was a double-walled box with a branded sleeve. The box was then shrink-wrapped to keep the cookies fresh and eliminate the need for another shipping box.
Inserts were created for various occasions. Senders could choose from messages like "Happy Day!", "Nice Work!" or "Super Sorry." , as well as holiday-themed inserts.
The labels developed were then applied to the rest of the packaged baked goods sold in-store and at local grocers.
Bubbly and bold, we put together a look for Target Baby that delivers the surprise and delight we've grown to expect from the upscale discount retailer. Our formula: a combination of playful layouts filled with bright-eyed babies and helpful product solutions, written from the voice of a knowing friend.
This look was applied to dozens of catalogs and promotions, as well as the retail space and all registry touchpoints online and in-store.
This past holiday season, Caribou Coffee introduced customization of their decadent holiday favorites. Customer's chose their own flavored whipped cream and candy topping. We took an illustrative approach where it snowed toppings, and the possibilities were endless. Well, nearly endless. We did the math, it was 528 new ways to enjoy—information we promptly decided to display on the front door.
